Our dairy products can be purchased directly from Dutch Meadows in Paradise PA, and from several retail locations in South Eastern PA.

Our Heritage Dutch Belt Cows are a unique heritage breed of dairy cattle and are natives of Holland.

Raw milk The Dutch Belted Cattle are natives of Holland. The original Dutch name-and still used in Holland- is the Lakenfield cattle, Laken meaning a sheet to be wound around the body of an animal. Their breeding dates back to beyond the seventeenth century, when the cattle interest in Holland were in the most thrifty condition, and this type and color being established by scientific breeding-decidedly the highest attainment ever reached in the science of breeding. The historian Motly said: "These are the most wonderful cattle in the world." These cattle were solely controlled by the nobility of Holland, and they are to the present time keeping them pure, but are not inclined to sell or part with them. Their increase in Holland was retarded by wars with other countries, the enemy revengefully destroying their fine cattle.

They have a broad band or belt around their body, while the rest of their body is black, making a very beautiful and imposing contrast. Their form is usually very fine, and they are wonderfully productive as milkers, combining, as they do, beauty and utility in its highest development. We do not wonder that the nobility of Holland hold so tenaciously to them.

The early importers in the United States were D.H. Haight, Goshen, N.Y., who made three importation. The D.H. Haight importations were very carefully bred on a large farm in Orange County, N.Y., and the noted Holbert and Knight herds were also established from his importation by careful selection. These famous herds comprise the foundation of most of the thoroughbreds in America, although, according to tradition, some of them were brought to Orange County, N.Y., by early settlers, their grades soon scattering over the country, and they became very popular for their unequaled milking and butter qualities. Orange County at once became famous for its milk and butter, and they commanded an advanced price above any dairy products of the states
